The writing prompt for today is AWAY.
START
Like so many other couples, my husband and I spent our honeymoon at Disney World. (I think it's the one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in the United States.) I hadn't been there since I was ten or twelve, and of course, since we were newlyweds, it was a wonderful time.
Since then we've gone back several times, starting when our son was two. We'd said that we wouldn't take him until he was five, but we couldn't wait. It turned out to be a fabulous trip, because his eyes were open wide with wonder. His first character meeting was with Tigger. He walked into the room, hesitated for just a moment, then ran over and started bouncing with Tigger. So, so precious.

So if it's not the packing, what is it? I think part of it is breaking routine. I like to wake up, start the laundry, have my coffee, check my email. I like the daily routine and the comfort of home. Being away, even somewhere fun, is still a source of stress.
What about you? Are you happier at home or away?

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a vacation, but I have to tell you, nothing beats coming home to your own bed! Maybe it's because I'm in the throws of early motherhood, but the notion of breaking the monotony of wake up, care for everyone around you, go to sleep sounds amazing right now!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE to travel ;)
ReplyDeleteI would do it all the time if I could... I just need to learn to pack better... I try to pack everything we might possibly need... and that is not always the best thing to do!
