Friday's Fave Five - March 8

Happy Friday!  This has been another week in which it's a challenge to find five favorites.  Nevertheless, I'm glad you're here. :)
  1. My husband and I went out for a date night.  We went to a little Italian place that makes the best chicken parmigiana.  And we had a coupon!  These date nights, with time alone to talk with my husband, are such a special time.
  2. I bought a silicone mold in the shape of Easter eggs; it makes six mini-cakes.  This week I made egg-shaped "cupcakes."  I decorated them simply, by using a sandwich bag with a corner snipped off.  They're not beautiful, but they tasted good!

  3. My family doctor was reassuring about the test results from a few weeks ago.  That was a relief.
  4. Afternoon naps!
  5. I've been reading voraciously.  I finished Welcome to Fred without knowing that it was from the same author as Muffin Man--a book which totally confused me at the end.  I enjoyed Welcome to Fred and the preview chapters of the sequel, but I haven't purchased the sequel.  Instead, I started reading an Amish novel ... perfect for reading while I'm curled up on the sofa with a blanket.

  1. Date nights...always a great treat, aren't they?? yay for good news from your doc! I've heard of the Muffin Man but never read it. I do NOT care for Amish trite and all the same in my opinion...ugh....i DO like visiting Amish farm stands (out where my hometown area is there are several amish communities and we have visited Lancaster Co in PA) and reading NON FICTION books about their culture though. Enjoy your day.....we have gone from a 2 hour delay here in the Albany NY area to a day of NO SCHOOL! which means I get to stay home and be with my own child!! YAY!!!!

  2. These winter days are good for reading -- several of us have mentioned books this week!

Glad the test results were encouraging.

Those egg-shaped cakes look great! I hadn't seen those kinds of molds. I'll have to look for them -- I don't have a particular dessert for Easter, and those would be fun to decorate.

I love date nights, and chicken chicken parmigiana is a fave, though I haven't had it for a while.

  3. Glad you are encouraged with your doctor's thoughts.
Your cupcakes look yummy...anything involving chocolate is yummy!

  4. Date nights are fun! And hurray for the coupon!
I hope you have many more sessions curled up on the sofa reading.

  5. date nights are great :)
so glad yall had a good one...
glad you have a good book to read, I just started one myself... man, how I do love to read!!!!

  6. Date nights are such a treat! Chicken Parmigana is a bonus. I love that stuff!

You've been busy baking! My kids didn't care if it was pretty or not, all they wanted was good tasting.

Glad to hear there was good news from the doctor.

  7. I LOVE reading curled up on the sofa with an afghan! Mmm, Chicken Parm -- with the hubby and a coupon. That's good stuff! Glad you got reassurance from your doctor.

Hoping your week ahead is a good one, Melissa!

  8. I love your cupcakes!! They look like the kind made with a mother's love. btw..I live on a little island town (connected to the mainland by a 2 mile causeway) in Massachusetts.
