Save on Children's Clothes (Guest Post)

Please welcome my sweet blogging friend Noelle!  She blogs at Jumpin Beans about life as a first-time mom and an Army Wife, and she has some of the coolest reviews and giveaways around!

Thred UP has got to be one of the best things that I have found!  I really can not remember how it came to be, but I am so glad that I found it!

Think of how fast our little ones outgrow their clothes, especially in that first year or so.  Now, I kept tons of Broxton's clothes, mostly for sentimental reasons...  Having my husband deployed and being a first time mom, everything was sentimental. Not just the clothes he wore home from the hospital.  But the other ones...
  • The family picture right before daddy left...
  • The outfit he wore at the homecoming of daddy...
  • The different "I love daddy" shirts that we just had to buy everytime we saw one...
But then, there is Thred Up.

Have you heard of it?

Basically it is an online consignment store.

How does it work?

You go online and join the group.
Then, you order your boxes.  They are free and they are the flat rate boxes from the post office.
After that... You start looking.
At this point, you can go ahead and admit it...  YOU ARE HOOKED.

You just click on the gender and the size you are looking for.  After that, it pulls up the list of what is available...  Once you pull that up, it has pictures of the seasons of clothes in the box.  (Other moms list the clothes that their kids have outgrown... See, consignment store online.)

The fun part is that you get to see that there are 5 shirts, 7 shorts and 3 pj's... (or something like that)

Then, you order the box.  It is $5 to "pick" it and then $10.95 shipping.

You get it and your little one gets new clothes.  No, they are not new with tags, but they are gently used and new to your house.

Think about it, how often can you get 15 or more clothing items for only $15.95?

We have been so impressed with what we have received.  Boxes full of great clothes.

The rule of the group?  No stains/tears/holes...   NOTHING you don't want to put on your little one is acceptable for trade.

Then, you get your boxes that were ordered at the start of joining the group.  Now, you "build" a box.  Just list the items and things that you are placing in the box...  Based upon gender and size.  It is fun to fill your box.  The more clothes in the box, the faster it will get picked.

Being an Army Wife, I love they allow you to "donate your pick to a military spouse."

Luckily for me, I found Thred UP and have been fortunate to buy great clothes from the comfort of my chair...

Would love for you to click my referral link if you are interested...  If you join through me, you get a $5 credit...  Once you swap a box, I get a $5 credit as well!

I hope you'll leave Noelle some comment love, then "jump" over and visit her at her own blog!

  1. thanks so much girl!
Hope you are having a great day!

  2. This is such a great way to get clothes for your children.

  3. This would have been wonderful when my boys were little because at one point they were wearing the same size and I couldn't even pass down Nik's clothes to Alex.
What a great idea during this really tough economic time and I love that you can designate your box for a military family. WooHoo.
Thanks for sharing this Noelle and thanks Melissa for having Noelle on your blog, she is a sweetie-pie!

  4. I love Thred Up! Just found it a few weeks ago, and now I've finally got a place for my kids old clothes!
I love sites like this, knowing the clothes will go to good use!

  5. Sounds like a neat service. Signed up under your referral.
