Finding Your Prince in a Sea of Toads (Book Review)

If only I'd had this book when I was a single young woman! It might have saved me a lot of heartaches by helping me identify the toads I encountered before I met my prince!

In Finding Your Prince in a Sea of Toads: How to Find a Quality Guy Without Getting Your Heart Shredded, author Dr. Kenneth Ryan gives straightforward truth to single women, from teens up through adults.

In a conversational tone--think of getting wise advice from an older brother--Dr. Ryan tells women about what men really think and how to avoid common mistakes.  He also counters the messages that we so often receive from television, movies, and other media:  messages that encourage viewers to believe that sex needn't wait for marriage, that it rarely has consequences, and that we should all do whatever we feel like doing.

Finding Your Prince contains 86 short chapters (over 260 pages), which are divided into six major sections:
  1. Damsel in Distress:  Why You Need This Book
  2. Learn to Talk with Guys
  3. Don't Sleep With Him:  Why Not
  4. Don't Sleep With Him:  How Not
  5. Don't Panic
  6. Rational Relationships
Following the main part of the book, Dr. Ryan has included a few short but very useful features, such as chapter summaries and a list of resources (both books and websites).

I found Dr. Ryan's information and advice to be both true and practical, and I appreciate that he has written the book in a way that is appropriate for readers of any faith.  I would highly recommend this book to single women of all ages.  In fact, if I had the resources, I'd purchase a few more copies to give to my nieces, my church library, and friends with teen daughters.
