Friday's Fave Five: Valentine's Day

This week has been better than last week!  My doctor adjusted my medications, and so far, so good.  It'll take four to six weeks to know for sure, but I'm happy to be feeling better now.

Thanks for stopping by to read my Friday's Fave Five list.  I'm glad you're here! :)

  1. Last weekend my husband and I went out for lunch, sort of an early Valentine's Day celebration.  We went to a Mexican place that turned out to be both fun and reasonably priced.  It was so good just to have a date with my hubby.
  2. On Saturday morning, my husband went out early and brought back some of the special heart-shaped Dunkin' Donuts.  One variety is a chocolate donut filled with raspberry jam ... so decadent!
  3. donuts
  4. On the morning of Valentine's Day, my husband taped a giant fluorescent-pink paper heart to the bathroom mirror.  (He leaves for work early, so I didn't see it for an hour or two.)  On the reverse side of the heart, he wrote an IOU for tickets to a concert.
  5. That same morning, my son offered to make breakfast.  He not only made a wonderful breakfast, but discovered our new pancake recipe.  If you'd like, you can read the rest of the story--including the recipe and my pitiful history with making pancakes--in my guest post at Premeditated Leftovers.
  6. When depression started to raise its ugly head, I picked up the One Year Bible and opened to the daily reading.  This verse was perfect in that moment:  "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." (Ps. 34:18, NIV 1984)

  1. Who could resist those heart shaped donuts? Wow they sure do look like weight gainers to me. That is so nice to have a heart and ticket in the mirror. It feels great when anyone does the cooking besides me. Perhaps I need your #5 maybe it is depression and I don't know it.

  3. Such sweet Valentine's celebrations - those donuts are killing me - they look too good! Plus tickets to a concert!

    A thoughtful son - he'll make a good hubby!

Your verse was perfect! Saying a prayer for you right now that the Lord will continue to hold you close and give you His strength and comfort.

  4. Lunch dates are always sweet. I need to do that far more often with my husband than I do! Donuts are one of my (many) weaknesses. Yummy. Tickets to a concert—I love that too. Matter of fact, I love everything on your list! Ha. Count me in on these 5 favorites too. Have a blessed weekend.

Those donuts are almost too pretty to eat - almost.

I love that scripture - and it is so true.

  7. Donuts and Mexican food will lift my spirits every time. And if they don't, that verse from Psalms surely will. Have a great week.
