Menu Plan Monday - Week of January 10

MPM logo

Usually I start the weekly menu plan with a blank sheet of paper and my freezer inventory list. This week, in contrast, I started with an abundance of perishables that need to be used.  That need was the deciding factor in most of these dinners:

Sunday:  Baked beans (use bacon cubes from the farmers' market)
Monday:  Sauerbraten (a new recipe - if we like it, I'll post the recipe)
Tuesday:  Roast chicken (use celery before it wilts)
Wednesday:  Chicken salad sandwiches (use leftover chicken)
Thursday:  Pasta with eggplant slices (breaded and oven-fried, then frozen)
Friday:  Chicken soup (one more dinner from the same chicken)

That definitely sounds like a winter menu, doesn't it?  I haven't yet planned out all the side dishes, but they'll fall into place.

  1. That is a great idea to also check your perishable items before making your menu list. Sounds like a week full of fabulous meals :)

  2. We're having a roast chicken too, thanks for reminding me to use up my celery!

What is your recipe for chicken salad? I've been searching for a good one. :)

  3. I have really been hungry for chicken salad lately. I don't know why...just sounds good. Your plan sounds wonderful.

  4. My son came back from London in October and now is back in Tampa so we have lots of perishables these days. Roast chicken is on for us too sometime this week.

    have a great week Melissa!
