- Last weekend, when I was feeling especially awful, my husband did everything! He brought me hot tea, went to the store for cough syrup, and made sure that everyone was fed. I don't know what I would have done without his help.
- When my mom heard me coughing, she reminded me of a cough syrup that I used to take when I was a kid. Creomulsion tasted terrible, but it always helped. Turns out that it's still manufactured, but it's not widely available. We ordered some online and it arrived today. I'm glad to see that it's still the original flavor, too. :)
- Books! I spent a few days doing nothing but resting, and I would have been bored to tears if I didn't have books to read. Since my head was foggy, I chose a light story that was a perfect fit.
- Simple comforts: hot tea, warm blankets, afternoon naps
- I've been especially appreciating my friends--online and in "real life"--who have checked on me, prayed for me, and empathized while I've been ill. And thanks to my bloggy friends who have stayed around, even though my posts haven't been terribly exciting!

Wow, I hadn't thought of Creomulsion in forever ... I used to take it as a kid, too.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better soon. I agree that when you are ill, simple comforts and the attention of your family and friends mean everything!
Sorry that you were sick . Even more sorry that I haven't been on your blog in a while. I'm a bad online friend :(
ReplyDeleteNonetheless, I'm glad you are feeling better. Hang in there!
Oh being sick is absolutely no fun. I'm sorry to hear you were so under the weather. I trust you are on the mend and doing better. In the meantime, yes, thank goodness for books to distract and entertain! Hopefully you'll nab some more afternoon naps and feel all better shortly!
ReplyDeleteIs Creomulsion like Buckley's? Tastes like Pine tar but it works!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're feeling a bit better this week.
Sounds like your man is a blessing, for sure!
Keep taking care of yourself and be well!
Its no fun being sick, but sounds like you had the best care & comfort any woman could ask for!
ReplyDeleteYour talking of Creomulsion made me think of our cough syrup here Buckley's, I call it "take a little spoon, do a little dance, cough it up tonight! Awful stuff but it works
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice when your not feeling well to have someone do even the small things for you, he was a blessing come through for you this week.
So glad you’re feeling better. Maybe by next week you’ll be back to 100%. What a great hubby you have to take care of you. How nice to be able to rest and read and enjoy simple comforts.
ReplyDeleteAll the little comforts when you are sick help...good husbands are the best. I hope you recover quickly...
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa,
ReplyDeleteHope your feeling lots better. I hate having a cold as it usually winds up going into Bronchitis. Thanks for stopping by my place. I have your Retro Runway Party on my side bar, so I'll be back. Have a great day!

I'm glad you're feeling a little better. I've been sick since yesterday a.m. with some mysterious cootie. How wonderful to have your hubby and mom there to support and care for you.
ReplyDeleteIts funny how a product from your childhood will just do the trick, even as an adult. Nice that your mom remembered!
