Why I'm Thankful This November

With Thanksgiving upon us, I wanted to take a few minutes to share what I'm most thankful for. I hope you'll share some of your blessings in the comments, too!

  1. The opportunity to serve our awesome God:   Why the Creator and Lord of everything would want anything to do with me is still beyond my grasp.  But I am exceedingly grateful that He does, and that He loves me enough to give me not only second chances, but also tenth chances, ninety-seventh chances, and more.  Every time I stumble, He is there to pick me up.
  2. Family:  My husband and son, my birth family, my in-laws, my church family, and other sisters and brothers in Christ.  None of us are perfect, and we don't always get along, but I'm thankful for every one of them.
  3. Blogging:  I appreciate having a place to express myself creatively.  Beyond that, I'm thankful for the blogging community and the dear friends I've made.  You know who you are!  Thanks to blogging, I have a new circle of friends who check on me, pray for me, rejoice with me, and simply 'get' me.
  4. Freedom:  I'm grateful to live in a nation where we're free to worship as we choose, express ourselves, and enjoy many other freedoms.  I'm also grateful for the men and women who have made personal sacrifices to defend those freedoms--and those who continue to do so.
  5. Books:  For years I read little more than magazines, but I've read a lot of wonderful books in the past year or so.  Whether I'm reading for knowledge or for entertainment, it's a joy.
  6. The basic food groups:  Chocolate, Coffee, Cheese, Carbohydrates.
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

  1. I am most thankful that Jesus saw something worth saving in me and that He stopped one day to pull me up out of the mire that I was in.
