Thanksgiving Dinner: Challenges and Resources

For as long as DH and I have been married, we've been visiting family for Thanksgiving. This year, we're hosting the dinner. This assumes that I can stop coughing long enough to get to the grocery store. Right now we have a turkey thawing, but that's about it!

Aside from the coughing, my biggest challenge is my perfectionism. Fortunately, help is available from Kraft Delicious Days, where you'll find a whole section of Thanksgiving recipes and ideas.

One of my personal cooking challenges is making turkey gravy.  Even if we overlook the Thanksgiving Day that I spent in the emergency room because of a gravy-related accident, the results have still not been good.  The gravy turns out lumpy or pale or otherwise inedible.  I'll definitely be looking into the Delicious Days tips on how to make perfect turkey gravy!

Beyond that, I appreciate the Kraft ideas for desserts.  I like traditional pumpkin pie, but I also like this no-bake double-layer pumpkin pie:

Caramel-pumpkin mousse tart sounds like another fun twist on a traditional dessert.  And, of course, it's always a good time for chocolate (click the image for the recipe):

Whether you're looking for inspiration, specific recipes, or a whole menu (even a meat-free menu), check out Kraft Delicious Days for more recipes and inspiration! If you do, be sure to take a look at the Delicious Home Makeover Sweepstakes, in which you might win $2500 for a kitchen or dining room makeover.

  1. I hope you feel better! I've been hosting our family Thanksgiving for several years now. It sort of got passed to me one year when everyone else got sick and no one ever took it back so my family must be doing something that everyone likes! lol

p.s. I'm having a cookbook giveaway at my book blog if you're interested...

  2. Hey my dear I'm so sorry I'm so behind on coming here :).

OK loving the pumpkin layered pie :)
