- I had an appointment with a doctor who was highly recommended. I expected him to prescribe a different antidepressant, but instead he diagnosed an underlying medical condition. He believes that it's not only (at least part of) the reason for my depression, but it's also causing other symptoms that I hadn't even mentioned to him. I've been taking the new medications for about five days so far, and I'm already feeling better.
- After the appointment, we took Mooseman to Grandma's house for the afternoon, so DH and I could go on a date. We had a fairly low-key afternoon, but it was such a blessing to have that time. (If you're interested in how we spent our afternoon, there's more detail here.)
- On the way home from our date, we stopped to buy some of the best macaroons I've ever had. DH likes the coconut ones, and I prefer almond ... so we got some of each. (These can be mail-ordered, but--even before shipping costs--the online prices are significantly higher than the in-store prices.)
- On Monday the mail carrier delivered the Kindle that I won from FSB Associates during Book Blogger Appreciation Week. I've been playing with it, and I think I've tried everything except actually reading a book!
- This week I have been thinking--a lot--about the way that the Lord brought people into my life before my depression hit in a big way. I can't help but think that the timing was more than coincidence. Some are in our church and some are online, but all have been a tremendous blessing to me. This week I had the opportunity to thank a friend who has been just amazingly supportive. I couldn't say it without getting misty-eyed ... and I'm getting that way again as I'm thinking about it!

Sounds like you have had a marvelous week my friend! I am praying that you can continue to live on the sunny side of life!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you found a good doctor, that makes so much difference!
ReplyDeleteThere is a bakery by my house that makes delicious macaroons, people come from far and wide to buy them. I indulge occasionally. . .
So glad that your doctor and new meds are working for you. What a blessing. I need to schedule a date night with my husband. The last one we had was visiting friends in the hospital, which was a great thing, but not very romantic. Ha. Hope you enjoy your Kindle. I absolutely love mine! Yes, great friends at just the right time are definitely a gift from God. I have a few of those, too.
ReplyDeleteYippee, regarding the doctor's diagnosis and medications. I love a doctor who knows how to think outside of the box and really explores or pays attention. I hope you continue to feel better each and everyday. Maybe I should go to that doctor. :-)
ReplyDeleteSuper Fabulous, regarding going on a date. I'm glad you had a chance to relax and have a low key moment.
Really? Wow! and Congratulations about the Kindle. I'm so jealous. ;-)
Sweet: re friends. It is "funny" how we find comfort or whatever at the most unusual or unexpected times.
I'll have to really think about my FFF because I've had a truly yuck-filled week. I don't think I'll take the time to link up this time, but thanks to you I did think of two things: A session with my counselor really relieved me of a lot of feelings and was helpful. A friend was kind enough to pay a bill for me. Well... okay, another one is when I cuddled with the girls individually on the couch. And holding my BFs hand while we watched t.v. :-)
Geez! You sure do have a way of making me think. LOL... Thanks... have a great weekend.
The macaroon's sounds so yummy, I should make some. I so want a kindle, you lucky girl!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad about the dr! yeah
I'm back from my summer blog break, and I'm so glad to hear you have found a new doctor who is really helping you. It makes all the difference to have one who listens and cares. Congrats on the Kindle.
ReplyDeleteSoo, so glad about your doctor and the five day test determining your feeling better. A Kindle, so lucky for sure. I debated buying one then talked myself out of it because of $$.
ReplyDeleteThose macaroons in that shop look so good. Thanks for the link.
Glad you could get some quiet time for an afternoon date. Have a great weekend
I'm so glad the Dr. is looking into those symptoms. What is a Kindle? It's awesome to see how God brings people in our life to help us in different seasons!
ReplyDeleteI am ecstatic to find you feeling better!! The Lord does provide in all ways, including friends to help you along. This week I am most thankful for my son's safe return from London on Wednesday. With the recent elevation in terror threats there this week, I was relieved when he asked for help to return!
ReplyDeleteHope you will continue this uphill motion- Blessings to you and yours
Isn't it great to have a good and thorough doctor? I'm so glad you found one who could rightly diagnose for you.
ReplyDeleteLucky lady to win a Kindle! Happy reading!
Wow...that is really good news about the diagnosis and new medicine. Hope it continues to help. And I know what you mean about getting misty-eyed about the Lord's timing and the people He brings into your life.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead!
Your #1 is the best news ever!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you have good friends as a support.
Wonderful news for #1! I'm so glad you have found a great doctor! And I am always amazed at how God sends encouragement into our lives when we need it. So glad that friendships and family were there for you.
