On Saturday morning, I had an appointment with a new (to me) doctor. He's a family-practice doctor who was recommended because he's very good with treating patients with depression. I went in with the expectation that he would change my medication, because the current med/dose clearly isn't working.
Instead, he considered my overall medical condition. I'd brought my recent blood-test results, and he asked some questions about my family's medical history.
Then he said that I have an underlying condition which explains not only the depression but also several other signs/symptoms that I hadn't even mentioned to him! I don't want to get into a lot of detail here (email me if you're interested). The bottom line is that I left with two new prescriptions, instructions to reduce the dosage of my current med, and an appointment to return in about a month.
How absurd is it, by the way, that I can fill these prescriptions more cheaply at Target or Costco (paying cash, rather than going through insurance) than through the prescription plan that we pay for?!

Time alone with hubby is priceless in any form (as long as it's not spent fighting, I suppose!). Best wishes for treating your condition.
ReplyDeleteI hope that the new prescriptions/doses work for you. Sounds like you had a great date night! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Doctor sounds great and I pray the meds help! I dealt with a little depression after my 2nd baby. It was horrible! I will be praying for you.
ReplyDeleteThe date sounds lovely! :) I love alone time with my hubby too!
Well, it sounds like the new Dr. is a blessing! How wonderful! Glad you had a great time with your hubby too :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind note! I'm sooooo happy for you that you found a doctor who looks for underlying reasons for things. I have hypothyroidism/other hormonal imbalances/pituitary problem that is really the basis for my anxiety, etc. Knowing that (it took a while for them to find that) has made a huge difference for me. I pray that your diagnosis/new meds will make a huge difference for you, too!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Lana
Blessings all around... a doctor who is listening to you, cheap(er) prescriptions, a Grandma to love on your little one while you and hubby enjoy precious time together...

I'm so glad to hear about this new dr. I just know he's going to bring some peace for you and the new medicine can really help! Sounds like he is looking beyond others!!!
ReplyDeleteOH man yup I've noticed the same w/ my thyroid med no matter what Target has it for $5! LOVE it.
I think the best thing is just getting out together. You don't need to go crazy with the expense.
Sounds like a great weekend :)
