- On Saturday my family went to the drag races. I used to be a regular, but hadn't been to the track for more than 12 years. It was fun to share the day with my husband and son.
- On Sunday we had a church picnic, which was a great time and a wonderful reminder of just how much I appreciate my church family.
- Every year, at about this time, the supermarkets get a fresh batch of Mallomars. They're on sale for one week only. According to the package, about 70 percent of Mallomar sales are generated in the New York City metro area. So if you don't have them in your area, I'm sorry: we ate them. [Your comments made me curious. According to Wikipedia, our Mallomars are the same as the Dream Puffs sold in Canada. Viva Puffs look similar, but from what I've read, they're not covered in pure chocolate. Whippets, which we occasionally see in stores, are also similar. But they're not as good as Mallomars! :) ]
- This week I started a new Bible study with a terrific group of women. Because I'm introverted, I was a bit nervous, but these ladies made me feel so welcome! The study was wonderful and I'm looking forward to next week!
- I don't usually include a quotation, but I like this one: "Try not to become a man of success but rather to become a man of value." (Albert Einstein)

ReplyDeleteSounds like you've had a terrific week. Hope your weekend is equally as blessed! :)
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a drag race in my life. Maybe I need to go! I have been to a lot of church picnics though. Ha. I know those are good. Glad you had such fun adventures this week. Wish I had one of your Mallomars. Love the Einstein quote.

About those Malomars ... I didn't get any :( That's ok, I'm not bitter or anything. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love the Einstein quote! I'm quite the quote collector so I always appreciate when someone includes one.
My grandma loved Malomars.

ReplyDeleteNow I didn't know this about Mallowmars, and come to think of it we don't get it. lol We have.... Mallows or Vivas Puffs, I want to say they are the same.
Your drag race brought back a few race car memories, thanks for the reminder.
What a tease you are with those malomars. I haven't seen them around here but I do try to avoid the cookie aisle :0)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a good week. I'm glad you were welcomed and felt comfortable at Bible study...
Great post! It is nice to take time to reflect on the things we are grateful for - large and small! One of my closest friends loves malomars. I can't eat them, but I love seeing them because they always make me smile when I think of her.
ReplyDeleteEinstein does it again! So what is your new Bible study about? Is it with your church?
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed weekend!

I love that quote, so true!
ReplyDeleteThose Mallowmars look delicious. We have a similar cookie here in Belgium, it goes way back, I remember my grandmother bought them at the weekly market for me. They look quite similar, except for the chocolate. Ours are made with milk chocolate and they're called Mellowcakes. You made me crave one now!
I hope you'll have a great weekend!
I'm oh-so-late this week -- sorry. I love Mallomars!
