Friday's Fave Five: Family, Friends, and Fresh Mallomars

FFF logo
Thanks to the lovely Susanne for giving us Friday's Fave Five and, along with that, a reason to look for the special moments in each week!
  1. On Saturday my family went to the drag races.  I used to be a regular, but hadn't been to the track for more than 12 years.  It was fun to share the day with my husband and son.
  2. On Sunday we had a church picnic, which was a great time and a wonderful reminder of just how much I appreciate my church family.
  3. Every year, at about this time, the supermarkets get a fresh batch of Mallomars.  They're on sale for one week only. According to the package, about 70 percent of Mallomar sales are generated in the New York City metro area. So if you don't have them in your area, I'm sorry: we ate them.  [Your comments made me curious.  According to Wikipedia, our Mallomars are the same as the Dream Puffs sold in Canada.  Viva Puffs look similar, but from what I've read, they're not covered in pure chocolate.  Whippets, which we occasionally see in stores, are also similar.  But they're not as good as Mallomars! :) ]

  4. This week I started a new Bible study with a terrific group of women.  Because I'm introverted, I was a bit nervous, but these ladies made me feel so welcome!  The study was wonderful and I'm looking forward to next week!
  5. I don't usually include a quotation, but I like this one:  "Try not to become a man of success but rather to become a man of value."  (Albert Einstein)
Have a blessed weekend!

Those malomars look familiar but I think they are call Viva Puffs here. And they are yummy and very addictive.

  12. Great post! It is nice to take time to reflect on the things we are grateful for - large and small! One of my closest friends loves malomars. I can't eat them, but I love seeing them because they always make me smile when I think of her.

  13. Einstein does it again! So what is your new Bible study about? Is it with your church?

    Have a blessed weekend!

  14. I love that quote, so true!
Those Mallowmars look delicious. We have a similar cookie here in Belgium, it goes way back, I remember my grandmother bought them at the weekly market for me. They look quite similar, except for the chocolate. Ours are made with milk chocolate and they're called Mellowcakes. You made me crave one now!
    I hope you'll have a great weekend!
