I know I'm in good company when I can relate to the words of David in Psalm 6:
My soul is in anguish.Psalm 13, as well:
How long, O LORD, how long?
How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever? Here's the question: Can I also relate to these words from Psalm 13?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and every day have sorrow in my heart?
But I trust in your unfailing love;My heart rejoices? Really? Can I say that at this very moment?
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the LORD,
for he has been good to me.
YES!
Even though I'm still walking in darkness ... even though it's exceedingly difficult to accept No or Wait as an answer ... I can trust in His unfailing love. I see it every day.
- I see it through my husband, who holds me and supports me. He doesn't understand--any more than I do--why I'm crying, but he loves me through it all.
- I see it through my son, who hugs me and tries to make me laugh when he knows I feel sad.
- I see it through my friends--in "real life" and online--who call or send email to ask how I'm doing. These friends pray for me when I'm down and rejoice with me when I'm up.
- I see it when I'm reading the Bible. Our God is a God of hope, and His Word reflects that. When I read, I see countless reminders of His promises and His faithfulness.
- I see it when I remember how good He has been to me along the way. I just searched my blog for previous posts on hope and the promises of God, and I found at least five:
- Thankful Thursday, January 28 (His faithfulness)
- Thankful Thursday, May 6 (hope)
- Be Still and Know (trusting in His promises)
- Bring the Rain (spiritual growth through affliction)
- Trusting God - Even When Life Hurts (book review with some of my favorite passages)
So yes,
... I trust in your unfailing love; How has He been good to you?
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the LORD,
for he has been good to me.

I know of nothing I can say but that I understand and I am glad God's got your back. The most amazing thing is looking back and seeing so very clearly what you knew and believed but didn't always see so clearly when walking in the dark.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that you are still dealing with this. I wish I had words to say that could make it all better. I am praying.
ReplyDeleteMelissa - I can relate. I'm glad though that we have hope.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. True, lovely and hopeful. There may be darkness that you see, but there's definitely light within your heart. I love how honest and open you are with sharing. Take good care. Smooches and hugs.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what "darkness" you are speaking of, but please know that I am praying for you tonite. I love that this blogging thing brings sisters in Christ together thru prayer even tho we have never met in person! I don't know where you live, nor anything about your personal life but GOD KNOWS YOU and LOVES YOU..this you know...keep clinging to His promises...His Word is TRUE and He will embrace you in all of your seasons.......blessings and hugs....
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa, It's Tuesday so your dark Saturday has come to pass and my prayer is that some light has shown through since then. For those who love, darkness is temporary. Each has their own darkness and I rejoice seeing your hope and faith. In sharing your hope and faith amidst your temporary, deepest darkness, what you may not realize is your are the light for others. &dagger
