My Kissimmee Dream Vacation!

Time for another "dream" vacation! This time I'm looking at Kissimmee, the Heart of Florida.

I've seen commercials that highlight the proximity of Kissimmee to the Orlando theme parks:  Walt Disney World, SeaWorld Orlando, and Universal Orlando.  But Kissimmee is more than Disney's neighbor. Visitors to Kissimmee are close to Gatorland, The Holy Land Experience, A World of Orchids, Titanic The Experience, and many more attractions.

Looking for a more relaxing vacation?  Head to the beach:  you can drive to the Atlantic coast beaches in about an hour, or the Gulf Coast beaches in about 90 minutes.  Or stroll through the downtown areas of Kissimmee and Celebration, where you can browse through boutique shops.  If you're a bargain shopper like me, check out one (or more) of the three outlet malls.

If you're into sports more than shopping, you might like to play golf on one of twelve challenging courses or take in a spring training baseball game.  And outdoor recreation options abound in Kissimmee, where you can bike, hike, fish, boat, or swim.

You'll also find an abundant selection of dining options, from familiar chain restaurants to unique restaurants.  I'm especially intrigued by Angel's Lobster Feast, which promises all-you-can-eat seafood in a 1950s-60s atmosphere and for "the best prices in town."

Accomodations are available for any vacation budget; they range from economy motels to the luxurious Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center.  Other options include vacation rental condos and campgrounds.

If I'm putting together my family's dream vacation to Kissimmee, we're staying at the Gaylord Palms Resort!  We'll spend at least a few days at Disney World, visit the Holy Land Experience, and maybe check out Gatorland.  I'd like to see the Gulf coast, because I never have, and we'd probably play at least one game of mini golf.  (Congo River Golf & Exploration Co. looks like fun!)  Oh, and there's that matter of the seafood buffet:  bring it on! :)

What about you? What would you do on your dream vacation to Kissimmee?
