We prefer flour tortillas to corn tortillas, and I nearly always purchase Mission flour tortillas from the dairy department of my supermarket. [They contain 0 grams Trans fat per serving and are cholesterol free. They are available in small (6"), medium (8") and large (10”) sizes in major grocery stores nationwide.] I keep a few packages on hand at all times, because they're so convenient for quick meals. And for frugality, it's hard to beat a yummy flour tortilla stuffed with beans and onions! (You can find more frugal recipes and ideas at the MissionMenus site.)
It's also good to know that Mission Foods supports Share Our Strength, the leading national organization committed to ending childhood hunger in America. To support Share Our Strength and to kick off the summer, Mission Foods is sponsoring the Mission Menus Challenge.
In the Challenge, Chef Sara Moulton is encouraging consumers to submit their budget-friendly recipes at Mission Menus Challenge for a chance to compete in a cook-off in Los Angeles and win a $10,000 dream kitchen makeover as well as a host of weekly prizes. The grand prize winner will win round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations for two to the Mission Menus Challenge Cook-off on September 10, 2010 at the Hard Rock Café in Los Angeles.
Recipes can be submitted from now until August 9, and the requirements are very simple. All recipes must:
- Include Mission Flour Tortillas
- Be original
- Feed a family of five for $10 or less

Oh my gosh 10K make over awesome! Hope you entered!!
