Update Your GPS Maps

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NAVTEQ. All opinions are 100% mine.

Most days, we go to the same places--supermarket, post office, church, work--and our cars seem to know the way to and from those places. But on day trips or vacations, we tend to make complicated itineraries with multiple stops. Add to that the fact that we're on unfamiliar roads, and it's trouble waiting to happen.

We have a portable GPS, but we haven't updated the maps.  Because we're using outdated maps, sometimes we'll be driving on a highway that's been re-routed, and the GPS thinks we're driving off-road.  That gets annoying, but it's not as bad as locating a place to stop (for us, that's usually either a gas station or a BBQ place) and finding that it's no longer in business.

If you're using outdated maps, too, there's a solution:  It's from NAVTEQ, the company whose technology and maps drive most of the in-car navigation systems and the leading brands of GPS-enabled devices in the United States.

At you simply click on the make of your car (for built-in GPS systems) or a retailer (for portable Garmin GPS devices), and you'll be taken to a site from which you can purchase updated maps for your GPS.

I can't guarantee that you'll never get lost, run late, or make a wrong turn that requires a long detour ... but working from current maps can only help!
