If you're looking for the right knife, pan, potato, rice, pepper, salt, oil, or cut of beef for a particular use, this book will tell you. If you would like to know what it means to keep kosher or to keep halal, or to learn about Hindu food practices, or to find out the difference between vegetarian and vegan ... this book has the facts. If you need to know how to handle a choking emergency, an allergic reaction, or a grease fire, you'll find it here. (I suggest you read the book ahead of time, rather than waiting for the emergency to occur!)
I read through this book quickly, but I'll refer back to it for the information it contains. (That would be easier if the book had an index, but I can easily mark the pages I know I'll use again.) While I already knew some of what the book teaches, I had plenty of I didn't know that! moments while I was reading it, as well.
