Garlicky Green Beans (Recipe)

A couple of weeks ago, when I discovered that we had no carrots, I had to find a quick substitution. I took some green beans from the freezer and decided to dress them up a bit. I happened to have some leftover garlic dipping oil, but this could easily be done without advance preparation.  As usual, the measurements are approximate and flexible.

Garlicky Green Beans

Green beans (I used about 1/2 pound frozen, but fresh would work, too)
Olive oil (about 3 tablespoons EVOO)
Garlic (at least 1 teaspoon, minced)
Basil (a sprinkle of dried basil)
Crushed red pepper (optional - I use just a dash)
Salt and pepper to taste

In a saucepan or skillet, parboil the beans in water until crisp-tender.  Drain the water, and add remaining ingredients to the beans in the saucepan.  Cook and stir until beans are coated and garlic is softened.
