I knew that Stouffer's made lasagna, but I didn't know about their line of EASY EXPRESS meals, most of which serve two to four people. Some of these are ready to be popped into the microwave oven, and some are skillet meals, but all are quick to prepare. I'm a fan of anything with Alfredo sauce, so I'd have to try the EASY EXPRESS Skillets Chicken Alfredo.
Another new product line is the Toasted Sub. These are single-serving packages which promise Bakery Fresh Taste in Minutes. I'd have to try the Philly style Steak & Cheese, partly because they made it without mushrooms (the right way to serve a steak sandwich!) and partly because it looks so gooey and delicious:
While I was there, I started reading about Stouffer's Let's Fix Dinner campaign, through which they're encouraging families to eat dinner together as often as possible. I'm all about that, anyway, but here are some statistics on how it can help our kids:
Studies show that kids who eat 5 or more family meals a week are:Pretty compelling reasons, right? Stouffer's is even offering prizes to families who take the Let's Fix Dinner Challenge. What more incentive do you need? :)
- more likely to get As and Bs in school
- more likely to think their parents are proud of them
- more than 50% less likely to drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, or try marijuana
- less likely to feel depressed or suicidal
Want to win a Stouffer's prize? I have the opportunity to give away a stack of VIP coupons for Stouffer's products. We'll draw five winners, each of whom will receive this set of coupons:
- 3 VIP coupons - Family Size Meals (great for Stouffer's Easy Express meals - up to $8.99 value)

ReplyDeleteddkmom3@yahoo.com - I love family dinners. We have at least four a week. I am a mother of three boys two of which are active in different sports. Family dinners gives us a chance to discuss school, friends, sports, schedules etc... I believe the family dinners are one of the things that are helpping me to raise my children without drugs or bad influences.
ReplyDeleteFamily dinners are important to maintain close ties and bonds with family members. It is an effective way to stay close with your children, especially with teenagers, since we all have very hectic lives and schedules.
ReplyDeleteDinner is very important to us as a family, as it sets aside some time for us to just sit down together, catch up, find out how our day went, and have a good meal. I look forward to it every day.

My favorite family dinner moment was just the other night. I made chicken with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. My almost 2 year old daughter, who is a notoriously picky eater, picked up a big piece of broccoli and said "Yum bawki in my belly button!" I'm pretty sure she meant "Yummy broccoli in my tummy" but it was just WAY too cute! And then- wait for it- SHE ATE IT!!!

In a world of instant gratification where everything must be done RIGHT NOW, we tend to miss the opportunities to spend the time with family. Dinner time is that time for us. It is the norm for us to have family or friends over for dinner and our kids have grown up with always having people over, so they really enjoy it. It is a time to catch up, to enjoy conversation, to laugh, to talk, and to just hang out with people you care about. It's my favorite time of the day.

Family dinners are important to us because there are so many of us. It's difficult to stay connected to everyone when we have so many different places to be. Family dinners keep us together. We just tried the Easy Express Lasagna and there were no leftovers!

Family dinners are important because it gives us time together as a family. My husband works out of town 3 weeks out of the month so when he's home we try to get every little minute in.

On the Facts About Dinner Page, I read all these things about kids and how great dinner together is for them. We've heard this before, however I was surprised to see the mention of improving couples relationships as well. I never really gave much consideration to this aspect but it's absolutely true.
