Friday's Fave Five

I'm happy to be able to say that this week has been pretty good, overall!  With everything that's been going on in the past few months, a "pretty good" week is a gift.  These were my five favorites:
  1. My 12yo son "Mooseman" has a wonderful imagination.  This week, while we were on the side-by-side stationary bikes, he led us on a guided tour of the world.  It started with a wrong turn and ended up in the style of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs:  in China we encountered a shower of wontons, in Mexico we ran into a storm of enchiladas, and so on.  It was so much fun!
  2. We've been stocking the freezer with homemade "heat and eat" and easy dinners.  This week we used a couple of them, and it's a great timesaver.  My original plan for the freezer was to make double portions and freeze half.  However, this week I ended up making two meals specifically to freeze, to take advantage of supermarket sales.
  3. Speaking of supermarket sales, Mooseman found a great Manager's Special deal in the meat department:  Premio fresh chorizo for 99 cents a pound.  The regular price is $3.49, so this was a super deal.  My DH especially likes chorizo, but we don't often purchase it because it's not often on sale.
  4. And speaking of my husband ... I was blessed this week to have a few opportunities to make him laugh.  I'm not generally funny, so the ideas that popped into my head were pleasant surprises for me, as well.
  5. This week I did some online searches related to the medications I'm taking.  When I did that, I realized that one of them is causing some side effects that I'd never connected to the medication.  I've made an appointment with my doctor to find an alternative, and I'm happy about taking a step toward getting this resolved!
It's been a quiet week, so my list isn't too exciting!  For more Friday's Fave Five, or to add your own FFF link, click the logo at the top of this post.

  4. #1 was awesome. That's a great way to make exercise more fun.

I've been thinking lots of stocking up on homemade reheat and serve freezer meals. I love to cook but about once a week or so I just don't feel like it so those would really help.

  6. I'm so glad you found that symptom on your medication, clearing up things like that can really improve our quality of life.

We love chorizo too, but don't fix it very often because of the fat. But it is yummy!

  8. Oh, the imagination of a boy -- there's nothing like it! (I have four sons, so I got a good dose of that.)

A quiet week is good...gives us time to think and look up a bit. Enjoyed your FFF.

  9. Love your boys imagination and playfulness! Got to love boys! Good for you for finding out about your meds. Sometimes you just need to take matters into your own hands. Hope it provides some relief for you.
Love the reheat meals, I need to do that more often!

  10. Sounds like a great week! And it's a great idea to make freezer meals to capitalize on grocery store deals... I have to keep that in mind.
