Just peeking in to say hello. This is Amy, and I'll be sneaking in now and then. As Melissa mentioned, we are sisters. I also enjoy cooking and spending time with my family. I haven't really blogged before, although I do have some other online hobbies that allow me to practice webcoding and graphics.

So what do you want to know about me? Melissa and I are pretty close in age -- close enough to have been dressed up like twins for a few years when we were very young. We are now geographically separated by a few hundred miles, but there's always email, right? I have a job outside the house that varies widely by season, right now it's low to moderate.

Melissa's family cookie recipes are pretty much the same as mine, of course, but I'll see whether I can find at least one from my husband's family. His parents and grandparents are no longer with us, so we've been searching his memory for descriptions of favorite childhood foods and I try to find recipes that are similar. 'Cause I needed a little more challenge in the kitchen!

Here's a little kitchen tip: I use the small 4x6 photo albums that seem to appear everywhere for my favorite recipe cards. I have one album for entrees, one for desserts, and one for holiday recipes. I found two pretty albums on clearance about two years ago; the albums were probably intended for wedding photos. These are being filled with duplicate recipe cards for my kids to have as they grow up and start their own families. As a mom who lives far away from family, it's nice to see the family traditions in Mom's handwriting.

  1. Hi Amy I see you and Melissa are alike, very organized. My sister and I are about 150 miles apart and she doesn't email so you know what that means.... long phone conversations!

I love to hear what you're thinking, so thank you for leaving a comment!
