Miracle Girls: A Little Help From My Friends - Review (Giveaway Closed)

coverAlthough A Little Help From My Friends is the third book in the Miracle Girls series by Anne Dayton and May Vanderbilt, I hadn't read the first two books until now. As soon as I started reading, I was back in high school, with girlfriends, cliques, crushes, parents, and teachers. Luckily for me, instead of reliving my own high school years, I had the joy of reading about the Miracle Girls.

In case you aren't familiar with the series, let me give you a quick summary. The Miracle Girls are a group of four unlikely friends, brought together by circumstances. Each of the books spans one year of their high school career, and each is told from the perspective of a different character. This new installment is narrated by Zoe, who has often been a stabilizing factor among the Miracle Girls. In her junior year, she's facing challenges of her own.

This is the publisher's synopsis of A Little Help From My Friends:

Zoe is used to being overlooked. As the youngest and shyest Miracle Girl, she was happy to fade into the background last year. But when she sheds her baby fat and shoots up four inches the summer before her junior year, everything changes. Now she's turning heads at school, and this new attention is beginning to strain her relationship with her sweet, serious boyfriend, Marcus. Pressure builds when Zoe's assigned partner for history class is Dean Marchese--a handsome New York transplant who isn't afraid to show her how he feels. Just when she needs her three best friends the most, the Miracle Girls are suffering from boy troubles of their own. Even Zoe's rock-solid home life begins to shake underneath her when her parents' relationship frays in the face of serious financial burdens. As this uncertain year of growing pains comes to a frenetic head, the quietest Miracle Girl must find her voice at long last and take control of her own destiny . . . with more than a little help from her friends.

Reading these books was, for me, like eating popcorn: I couldn't stop reading. I read all three books in about three days. These books would be suitable for teen girls, young adults, or even old ladies like me. :)
