Dove Nourishing Body Wash (Review)

Recently I had a chance to try the new body washes from Dove. According to the ads, these body washes have NutriumMoisture™ Technology, "Breakthrough Formula [which] Cares for Surface Skin Ten Layers Deep."

I was most interested in trying the Sensitive Skin body wash, because that's the only kind of product I can usually use. I tried that first. It is, indeed, unscented; however, the ingredient list includes a fragrance (masking fragrance, perhaps?). The label indicates that it's hypoallergenic, and I experienced no skin irritation at all.

I also tried the Dove Deep Moisture body wash. This has a light fragrance that I'd describe as powdery. It reminds me of a Dove liquid hand soap that I've used. I like the fragrance, but my husband and son find it too "girly" for them to use. Even though this product isn't formulated specifically for sensitive skin, I didn't have any problem with it.

With both formulations, I found that a little goes a long way: a small dollop is enough for a shower. I also noticed that doesn't seem to rinse as quickly as bar soap; I don't know if that's because I used too much product, or because of the moisturizer that remains on the skin. I can't really evaluate the moisturizing properties during the summer, when my skin isn't particularly dry.

You can read more about new Dove Nourishing Body Wash here. It's available at drug stores, mass marketers, supermarkets, and online. The above image is linked to the Amazon product page, but you can probably find the product for a lower price locally; for example, my supermarket sells the 24-ounce bottle for $6.99.

Disclosure: I received product samples, at no cost to me, for review purposes. I have received no other compensation for this review.

  1. I love body washes and I have sensitive skin, so sounds like this would be right up my alley!

  2. I love Dove body washes..they leave your skin feeling moisturized after the shower that I don't need to apply lotion afterwards..
