IS HOW WE WORSHIP TRULY BIBLICAL? There’s only one way to find out: see what the Bible has to say. And that’s exactly what Called to Worship is all about.Author Vernon M. Whaley has written a thoroughly researched guide to worship in the Bible. Working through the Old Testament and the New Testament, he presents examples of worship that have pleased God (and a few that haven't). Each chapter concludes with a summary of its principles. In the center of the book the author provides seven days of devotions based on the book of Psalms. These devotions are intended to be a model of how we can worship in a manner that pleases God.
This book, while not a quick read, was a compelling read for me. Dr. Whaley describes how we can live a lifestyle of worship. He calls out, sometimes with brutal honesty, the things that pull us away from authentic worship. I particularly enjoyed the chapter that covers the well-known account of Job, through which Dr. Whaley seems to encapsulate a summary of his message.

I too am a reviewer for Thomas Nelson and reviewed this book on my blog. I loved it! Like you said, not a quick read in any way, but very insightful and changed the way I look at worship.
