- Easy Find Lids (these are the ones with the solid red lids)
- Lock-its (clear with locking tabs and a red seal around the edge)
- Produce Saver (with the green insert and lid), and
- Premier (with a black lid)
All of the types have Easy Find Lids, which snap to the bottom of the containers for easy storage. The lids also snap to each other, which saves space. All are dishwasher-, freezer-, and microwave-safe. Beyond that, each type has its own special features.
Lock-its have locking tabs that secure the lids. I'd use these for packing lunches, because the tabs would keep the lid attached! I used one to store cucumber salad, and the only time I had a tiny leak was when I repeatedly flipped the container to mix the salad and the vinegar-based dressing.
Produce Saver containers have an insert that keeps fruits and vegetables from sitting in a puddle of water; the lids have tiny vents to help keep produce fresh. I used the Produce Saver to store fresh green beans, and I was glad they didn't sit in the water I'd rinsed them in. (Note that Rubbermaid recommends not washing the produce before storing it in the Produce Saver; this will help keep produce fresh longer. I haven't tried it that way.)
Premier containers are made of a different material, designed to resist staining and odors. To test the stain-resistance, I filled it with tomato sauce ...
... and left it in the refrigerator for three or four days. After I washed it, it was perfectly clear, as advertised.

I have always liked the solid red easy fit lids because of their durability but I really would love to try the Premier black lids/containers now that I hear about their stain and odor resisitance. Thank you for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteGlad the containers worked out well for you.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to go with the easy find lids b/c I am always losing them!!!! :) Neat giveaway!
ReplyDeleteoh, I'd be all over the lock-its, with a 18 mo and 3 yo in the house, we need all the spill protection we can get!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a subscriber too!!
ReplyDeleteThe Lock-its would be best for me. I am always cleaning the fridge because of poorly-fitting lids on containers.

I love the produce savers - they keep moisture away from the fruit stored in it and keep your produce fresh longer!
ReplyDeleteI love the Rubbermaid Lock-its! Sometimes the microwave will warp the bowl/lid to where the lid won't fit that good but with the lock-its, you'll never have to worry about the lids coming off! :)

I guess the most unusual containers I've ever used would be re-washed plastic butter containers or containers that BBQ comes in. They make the perfect sized little containers for leftovers! :)

The rubbermaid premium containers appeal to me the most because they are odor and stain resistant. I am so tired of our containers holding in odor and then having to be thrown out because they stink too bad. We've thrown away quite a few just because they stink

I love the easy find lids and the lockits.
ReplyDeletecavsfan24@yahoo.com
I like the lock lids... mostly because I have a tendency in a hurry to look into a container and then not secure the lid -- this would, I hope make me more aware to do it each time. Also because I like to put things in sideways, and of course the locking lid would then keep the food in that way as well.
ReplyDeleteI would love the easy to find lids!
ReplyDeleteThanks,

I have always been a Rubbermaid girl! No generic brands for me (they melt in the microwave). Recently my 1 year old son has taken to drumming on my collection. I'm now left with containers and mismatched lids all over the house, but that's perfectly fine with me because he's a little rocker. I have been eyeing the premier with the easy find lids for awhile now, but the idea of the produce savers sound great (I am really making an effort to feed my son fresh fruits and veggies, but I hate that it all goes bad so quickly). What a great company and great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI think the lock-its are my most favorite!
ReplyDeleteWe need the Produce Saver bowls--we waste too much produce due to spoilage.
ReplyDeleteI have used an old alfredo sauce jar to store bacon grease in until I used it to fry cabbage. The grease was hot and the glass jar was the only thinkg I could find that wouldn't melt!

The Lock-Its appeal to me most. The commercial for them shows soup in them being tossed in a backpack. I would love to take soup for work lunches, but don't trust my other Containers to get it work safely - walk down the block, hop onto public transportation, walk into work, through my bag down because I forgot I had soup in it, etc. leads to a slimy, wet mess in my bag. Lockits look much more leak-prooof!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with most of the comments. I would love the Lock-it the best. I hate when my containers leak!!

count me in! I love the idea of the produce savers :)
ReplyDeleteThe first paragraph made me laugh because it's so like me! The mish-mash of lids, none of which fit any of the containers! You know, I think I used all my good tupperware to send food home with people, now I'm left doing the bowl thing like you! Because of this, I find all of their containers appealing! But my very favorite is the produce saver, anything that could help extend the life of produce is OK with me, because I hate wasting food but sometimes we just can't get through it fats enough. Thank you for the giveaway!
