Definitely No Photos!

Actually, we took a photo but it's too icky to post. Take my word for it: you don't want to see it.

I've had major surgeries, minor surgeries, and all sorts of other medical procedures. I didn't realize until today that I'd never had anything except dental work done on my head. Until today, that is.

I had to have a lipoma (a benign tumor of fat cells) removed from my scalp. Even though I came home with a half-inch incision, two sutures, and some pain, there were still blessings in this!
  • I prayed for calm and God answered my prayer. It also helped that my husband and my son were with me. I was calm and distracted instead of nervous.
  • My family doctor is trained in surgery and was able to do this procedure right in his office.
  • The doctor and the nurse went to the extra trouble to work around my hair instead of shaving a patch. It was especially challenging to make stitches when the suture kept getting mixed up with my dark hair.
  • As I wrote this morning, my husband offered to take over dinner for the next few days. We had pizza tonight, and DH and DS handled all the clean-up and dishes.
  • The weather for the next few days is expected to be cooler than usual. I think that'll help make this more comfortable.

Thanks for your prayers! I'm taking it easy for the next couple of days, but I'll be just fine.

I'm linking this up to Gratituesday. Click through for more stories of gratitude.

  1. I hope you feel better soon! It is nice that you have so much support from your family.

  2. Glad to hear all went well. Is there really such a thing as "minor" surgery? Not when they're cutting on me!!! LOL! Take care!!!

  3. Oh how wonderful that they worked around your hair. Isn't God faithful to give us what we ask for. I am so glad you were blessed with calm.

  4. Glad you are ok and that your family is helping. That is a big relief when you dont have to worry about chores and getting supper ready.
