In June I reviewed Classic Prayers for Children, a lovely old-fashioned book of prayers and poems, illustrated with vintage artwork. This book, originally published in 1912, was out of print for years before Laurie Latour and her husband decided to republish it. You can find the story of how they came to do that here. And, in case you missed my review, here's the short version:
What I most like about this book is that this collection of prayers is a wonderful example of how to pray. These prayers, collectively, cover the fundamental areas of prayer: praising God, seeking His forgiveness, thanking Him for His provision, asking for His guidance, praying for our pastors and teachers, asking God for healing in times of sickness, and submitting to the Lord's will. Whether we grow up in Christian homes or come to Christ as adults, we all learn how to pray. This book is an outstanding resource for that.Classic Prayers for Children is also an excellent source of copywork. Copywork can build character as well as develop handwriting skills when children copy such poems as this:
My God, accept my heart this day,
And make it always Thine,
That I from Thee no more may stray,
No more from Thee decline.
Buy it: You can order Classic Prayers for Children online. Click the book title for details.
Win it: One blog reader will win a copy of Classic Prayers for Children, courtesy of Laurie Latour.

In Future Christian Homemaker's Handbook I think # 7. Handling Poultry properly (say that fast 3 times) is a necessity as is the Grocery Shopping. Now, this is something boys as well as girls need to know.

I would love to win a copy of Classic Prayers for Children so my granddaughter and I can read them together. She has a prayer doll that she has slept with since birth and loves it. It never hurts to teach a child to pray. I did it everynight before I climbed into bed.
