Stuffed Bread with BBQ Pork (Recipe Review)

On Menu Plan Monday I wrote about Kristen's recipe for Stuffed Bread. This recipe is a keeper!

I didn't have any leftover BBQ pork for the filling, so I cooked three boneless pork chops with some onion and smoke flavoring in a little water. I chopped that and mixed it with a little BBQ sauce to use as the filling, and also used four ounces of shredded mild cheddar cheese.

Kitchen shears were definitely the right tool for cutting the dough into strips.

Ready to go into the oven:

Baked (I didn't brush it with butter as Kristen did):

This was a fun dinner, and we all liked it. The only problem is that, even though this was a pound of meat and a whole loaf of bread, it didn't seem as substantial as I thought it would be. Next time I might make a potato dish on the side.

I'll try it again, though, and I'm already thinking of different fillings to use. Pepperoni and mozzarella ... ground beef (browned) and cheddar ... meatballs and mozzarella ... What do you think?

  1. Ooohh... that looks yummy!

I think I'd try a sausage filling. I've made a sausage sandwich where you brown a pound of ground sausage and simmer it with spaghetti sauce, onions, peppers, etc. That one called for spreading the filling on a loaf of Italian bread and then baking it. I think it would work in this dough, too.

  2. That sounds so good. The pepperoni and mozzerella sound even better.

  3. That looks very good! I really aprreciate your recipe reviews.

  4. delicious! thats my kind of food!
