Friday's Fave Five!

It's not a difficult week to find five favorite things! This week has been mostly quiet but mostly good. So here are my five favorites:

  1. We went to the races at the dirt track. I wasn't eager to go, because I knew it would be a late night, but it turned out to be great fun. When we left the track, both we and our car were covered with dirt, but it was worth it!
  2. Our pastor gave a wonderful message on James 3:3-12 ("... With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. ...")
  3. I had to have a set of x-rays because I've been having pain around my collarbone. The x-rays show that there's no fracture, so it's just a matter of resting and letting it heal. (If you have any ideas on how a mom can avoid lifting for a while, let me know. This hasn't been easy.)
  4. The weather has been perfect for the garden: warm and mostly sunny, but with enough rain that we didn't have to water it. All we've had to do is pick: cucumbers, squash, green beans, and sugar snap peas. This is the best part of gardening!
  5. After being tired all week, I had a chance to sleep for an extra 1-1/2 hours this morning. :)

  1. Good morning Melissa! Sounds like some fun experiences this week. That James passage always hits me between the eyes! Yikes...
Glad you could get some extra rest :0)

  2. Glad you got some extra sleep -- a good nap does wonders! Glad you don't have a fracture as well -- hope you feel better soon!

We could probably use messages on the tongue pretty regularly.

  3. #1 I know just how you feel about reluctance turning into fun. Glad you had a terrific time. #4 Since I'm from So Cal where rarely does a drop of rain fall between May and October, this one slays me. Rain, so you didn't have to water - imagine that! #5 is quite nice. Enjoy your blog hop and other gatherings :-)

  4. I love getting "extra" sleep...is there such a thing! I have had a bad back this month so I can sympathize on your collarbone issue! I pray you can get it to heal

  5. Harvesting (and sharing the harvest) is one of the best parts of gardening. I hope your collar bone area feels better soon!

  6. You are lucky to have perfect weather for the garden... It's been way too hot and way too dry here in sw fla

  7. How can a mom avoid lifting? Hmmm. I'll have to think on that one for a while! LOL! That's like asking, "How can a mom get some extra rest?"

  9. Your garden sounds yummy! Nothing like fresh picked produce.

Ouch to your collarbone. I had to refrain from lifting my dayhome kids for a long time when I hurt my back. I didn't have any under one at the time but I had them crawl up on my lap, rather than lifting. Crawl into lower chairs to be be fed rather than lifting into high chairs and we made "special" beds on the floor rather than lifting in and out of play pens. It definitely will help you heal faster if you can rest that collarbone as much as possible. Praying it gets better soon.

  10. Glad that it's nothing too serious with the collarbone. But do rest up.
Great list and I like #2 - good reminder!
