A Less Expensive Video Game System

When my son played on the Nintendo Wii system at his cousins' house, he knew that he'd like to have the same game at home. He also knew that it wasn't in our budget, and he was very understanding about that.

Then we stumbled across this:

It's the Jakks Pacific Ultimotion Swing Zone Sports Motion Controller Video Game, which is currently selling at Amazon for $36.66 (with free Super Saver Shipping).

While this game looks like something for younger kids, our whole family plays it. It's not as feature-laden or as slick as Wii Sports, but it's quite acceptable. My son and my husband pass the football; they play golf and tennis. We all bowl.

As one game reviewer wrote, "[F]or those who need a Wii substitute, this is a great choice." (Here's another review, if you're interested.)

My son doesn't play video games all day--we limit his game time just as we limit TV and computer time--but this is a good change of pace.

Check out Works For Me Wednesday for the special "Mom, I'm Bored!" Summer Edition. I'm looking forward to reading everyone's ideas, but right now I'm off to take care of a "Mom, I'm hungry!" :)
