WFMW: Pizza Sauce

Just a quick tip today:

My family likes homemade pizza, but I can't see making sauce just for pizza. I used to buy jars of pizza sauce, but we'd use only half the jar. As long as I was freezing the other half, I decided that I might as well freeze my own sauce.

So now, whenever I make meatless sauce, I reserve a half-cup of sauce to freeze for future pizzas. (I've also frozen leftover sausage and meatballs for future pizzas.) The seasoning might need to be adjusted a bit, but it's easier than making sauce and cheaper than buying another jar.

  1. That's a great idea. Now you've got me wanting your pizza sauce recipe! :) Do you have it posted on your blog??

  2. Lori - Thanks! The sauce recipe isn't on the blog, but that's a good idea. I'll try to post it later today.

  3. Me too! I've found that a 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes makes the equivalent of at least 2 jars pizza sauce for half the cost. I also freeze cooked bacon and raw chopped green peppers for pizza toppings. See my site for "10 Easy Prep Foods You'll always find in my Freezer" for more on how!
